Amongst the stone-walled roads outside of Gordes lies Mas Tranquille - a beautifully renovated farmhouse (mas) with incredible views that last for miles. This home has been restored to the highest of standards, and is truly a special find.

Overlooking the Luberon valley, and surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, there is an air of true provencal spirit here. Upon entrance through the front door, the open salon and full windows ahead welcome you into the home and terraced gardens.

The salon and fully equipped kitchen are separated by a large dining area overlooking the gardens, and a further outdoor dining terrace with BBQ are found just on the other side of the kitchen.

On the ground floor you will also find a masterpiece fire place, TV room with flat screen television, 3 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms.

The large master en-suite bedroom is located on the first floor with a lovely terrace for enjoying morning coffee overlooking the valley. A second en-suite bedroom is also on this first floor, and both rooms are equipped with air conditioning for those warmer summer days.

A beautiful cottage by the pool, with its own private entrance, provides a sixth bedroom with large en-suite bathroom.

The pool is located down just a few steps from the terraced outdoor dining area and small cottage, and offers incredible views and privacy.

Just beyond the pool and attached to the salon sits another outdoor seating area, perfect for lunches in the garden, overlooking a small green field, olive groves, a boules court, and the expansive valley views beyond the property.

This renovated farmhouse is truly the essence of Provence.

End of stay cleaning and 3 cleaning hours on Wednesday included. Linens changed weekly unless agreed otherwise. Maids not responsible for washing guest dishes/ pots/ pans or personal laundry.

Mas Tranquille is magnifient. We absolutely loved it. Beautiful villa and property in the valley below Gordes. Very peaceful. Amazing views in every direction. Very well appointed, literally every comfort has been taken into consideration. Nicolas, the property manager is a step above. Very professional and efficient. A couple small issues arose and he was there immediately to deal with them…with a big smile on his face. Cannot recommend this property enough. We used it for a very special family week!

The place was amazing. I'd give it 5 stars.

Only two suggestions for improvement:

1. The man who met us at the property didn't really speak any english. He showed us around the property and was able to explain things in broken english but it was a little difficult.

2. The directions to the property weren't very good. We could make it to the main street before the turn off to the house but after that we got completely lost and ended up in someone else's driveway, who luckily for us was very friendly and rang our contact on the phone and spoke to him in French and arranged for us to meet him on the main road leading to the property. This caused us some wasted time and added stress. After we were directed to the property we went back over the directions and still were baffled as to how they would have led us to the right place. The property itself also has no signage out the front so it would be very difficult to know we were at the right place even if we did find it.

Locale

Mas Tranquille is set in the Gordes countryside, five kilometers from the village and within easy reach of the villages of the Lubéron so adored by travel writers - among them Ménerbes, Lacoste, Goult, Bonnieux and Roussillon. Beaumettes and Coustellet, small villages with a variety of shops, are less than ten minutes by car. The property is likewise well located for excursions beyond the Lubéron. Aix-en-Provence lies to the south, the Cotes du Rhone wine-producing region to the north, and the villages and restaurants of the Alpilles region to the southwest. The historic town of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, once a center of the Provençal silk trade and now home to more than 200 antiques dealers and Provence's best-known open-air market, is a drive of less than 15 minutes, is the center outside Paris of antiques dealing.

Getting here:
The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseilles International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV(high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV(3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.

Terms and Conditions Overview

Arrival: Saturday (arrival date subject to availability)

Minimum Stay: 1 week - please inquire about exceptions outside the summer months.

Services Included: Final cleaning and any additional maid service listed on the web page

Making your reservation: These properties are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, before you reserve, you are required to review and sign a rental agreement for the villa (the “Rental Agreement”). We will send you the Rental Agreement by email. The Rental Agreement explains in detail all of terms and conditions regarding rental and use of the property in detail. We shall have no obligation to accept any reservations, unless the Rental Agreement is fully executed.

Payment: After you have signed the Rental Agreement and filled out the appropriate information, as approved by us, a nonrefundable payment of the one-half (50%) of the Rental Fee (which price is defined in your Rental Agreement) must be received by us within seven (7) days to confirm the reservation. The remaining one-half (50%) of the Rental Fee is due 60 days before the arrival date, and is also non-refundable. If reservations are made less than 60 days prior to the arrival date, then 100% of the Rental Fee must be paid upon the signing of the Rental Agreement. Please know that a failure to pay any portion of the Rental Fee as set forth above and in Rental Agreement can result in loss of the reservation of the villa and a termination of the Rental Agreement. We will confirm receipt of each payment and note any outstanding balance and due date(s).

Cancellation: We have a no refund cancellation policy, but usually succeed in rescheduling cancelled reservations to the Spring or Fall or re-booking the cancelled period to another group and refunding the party that cancelled. Failure to pay the final balance (which is due 60 days before arrival) or provide required information for the security deposit may be deemed a cancellation with no refund due. Clients are advised to consider Trip Cancellation Insurance with the carrier of their choice at the time of confirmation.
